ChampionQU Inc has partnered with A Better Jamaica, Inc/Greg Mays to present free Movies in the Park in Southeast Jamaica Queens. A Better Jamaica, Inc. is a nonprofit community service organization that engages in activities designed to strengthen Jamaica Queens.
A Better Jamaica has sixteen program initiatives: Family Movies in the Park; Jamaica311; Classic Film Fridays; Jamaica Reads; Jamaica Solutions; The Jamaica Ball; JAC’s Holiday Music; Jamaica Shoots; The AirTrain Jazz Festival; The Delightful Festival (incorporating Cinema En Español); ABJ’s CASA; The Carver Scholars Program; The Jamaica Dance Festival; SU-CASA; the St. Albans Craft Walk; and Art to the People.
Movies in the Park takes place Monday through Friday in the summertime at Cambria Heights Park, Brockville Park, Baisley Park, St, Albans Park, and Rufus King Park. ChampionQU has managed different parks for A Better Jamaica during the summer.
The ChampionQU squad comes with energy and connectivity each time. In previous years we turned Baisley Park into Wakanda during a showing of Black Panther. We also came with African Ike, a community figure and entrepreneur who also DJ’s, to provide a selection of authentic Afro Beats music.
DJ LennoxNYC has also provided a pregame party atmosphere for Movies in the Park. St. Albans Park always asks for DJ Lennox because he plays exactly what the crowd likes and even engaged the audience with a game of Name That Tune before showtime.
